sciencecamp1The premise of this camp program is to give children the opportunity to study science in a way they cannot at school. Naturally we teach science founded on the Bible, but we go further than that - everything we do is hands on. A lot of the experiments children can only see on television elsewhere - we do them here! Some examples: we've dissected fireworks, created batteries, built rockets, constructed catapults, held exotic birds and wildlife, and even created, from scratch, motors. When we say that we've done all this, we mean the children have actually done these activities. We've shown children why red fireworks are red. Science Camp campers have used the tools to put the catapults together (the same catapults they used to launch slime off of sand dunes a couple hundred feet high - but that's a different story). Campers have held exotic birds and wildlife brought in by experts in the field. And they have built actual, working motors from common household items. And our small instructor-to-camper ratio ensures that each camper will get the most out of each Discovery session.

HFCC's Science camp is truly a hands-on experience that most children will not have anywhere else. And that's just the science part! We still have all the games, activities, campfires, cookouts, and everything else that our other camp programs have. This is definitely something that you'll want to check out if you haven't already experienced Science Camp @ HFCC.

We've got some awesome classes lined up this year. Here's what you're looking at:

specialfeatures

sciencemcamp2Here are some of the highlights of the program - or what you might expect out of a week at HFCC's Science Camp:

  • Children grades 2 - 9
  • Families welcome - Parents and children ages 4-6 (we call them Jr. Discoverers) are housed in rustic cabins.
  • Don't miss our All-Camp game of Get Smart! It's a spy-strategy all-camp game along the lines of Capture the Flag, but way more fun!
  • The perfect blend of science education, outdoor discovery & camp fun - structured for how kids learn. It is hands-on learning.
  • A part-learning, part-vacation adventure.
  • A favorite of HOMESCHOOLING FAMILIES - who have found it to be a great stimulus.
  • This program is co-ed.

cost

As with all our camp programs, we keep the cost low for you and your family. We're a non-profit camp so we can do that. The cost per week for HFCC's Science Camp is $285 per Discoverer or parent and $200 per Jr. Discoverer. Receive an Earlybird discount of $35 off your Discoverer/parent fee and/or $20 off your Jr. Discoverer fee if you pay your balance in full by April 1, 2008. Little ones (under 4 years old) are FREE!
